4CF visits Graphene Republic
On 14th of March 2012 4CF representatives met with Mr. Zygmunt Łuczyński Ph. D., Director at Institute of Electronic Materials Technology and with Mr. Włodzimierz Strupiński Ph.D., who invented the method for the industrial production of grapheme. The meeting was held at IEMT, the cradle of polish graphene technology - a major research institution participating in industrial development of this celebrated innovation, which earned Nobel Prize for Geim and Novoselov on 2010. 4CF contributes to a nationwide effort in graphene technology transfer for commercial purposes with promising developments in aerospace and electronic industries. We set up cooperation with The Millennium Project and Polish Society for Futures Studies experts to asses profitability of graphene investments, analyze trends in graphene research and development for optimal spinoffs and to promote social debate about graphene.

4CF coaches Polish CMOs
A two day course in Marketing Effectiveness Assessment and Management designed for marketing executives was hosted at Warsaw Marriott hotel on February 21-22. Workshop class, including simulations and case-studies were carried out by Norbert Kołos and Kacper Nosarzewski from 4C Future. The classes, organized with MM Conferences SA, proved very interesting among marketing professionals from all over Poland and will be repeated in the future.

The Millennium Project celebrates 16th anniversary
Washington-based futures studies think tank, managing a world-wide network of nodes enters its 17th year of operation. Continuous growth both in activities and competence, and new projects financed by states and international organizations confirm the global need for collective intelligence and expertise to answer for questions that are crucial to our future. Last year's achievements and projects from The Millennium Project are presented in State of the Future 2011 report. 4C Future is a sub-node of The Millennium Project, operating within Central European Node.

4C Future cooperates with Supron 3 company - a market leader of fire fighting and safety equipment. Supron 3 is known for their quality fire fighting hoses, hydrant valve cabinets and internal hydrants. It was founded in 1992. In addition to manufacturing it provides distribution and technical service of special gear, while also supplying complex equipment solutions for State Fire Service Units and Volunteer Fire Departments.

Cooperation agreement signed by 4CF
On 29th of November 2011, Managing Partners from 4C Future signed a cooperation agreement, focused on know-how exchange and operational support with Polish Society for Futures Studies (PFSF), represented by Mr. Łukasz Macander, President and Maciej Jagaciak, Member of the Board. The event took place at Warsaw-located 4C Future headquarters. 4C Future gained an important partner for business-foresight projects in exchange for The Millennium Project expertise consultancy. The president of PSFS, Mr. Łukasz Macander said: "The dawn of modern futures studies breaks over Poland. NGOs will soon lend a hand to businesses and together they shall execute large projects in this domain. We recently started a cooperation with OSM Skierniewice - a dairy cooperative from ŁódĽ Voivodship and renowned producer of high-quality mozzarella cheese. OSM Skierniewice has approx. 1000 members. It boasts a 65 year long tradition in dairy production and numerous prizes awarded for product excellence.

State of the Future 2011 in Polish
This year's State of the Future report, one of the most influential futures resources, is the first to have its Polish version. 4C Future cooperated with Polish Society for Futures Studies to prepare a Polish Executive Summary of the SoF 2011. It includes key conclusions, drawn by a multinational team of experts and can be downloaded here. State of the Future brings together answers to policymakers, managers and NGO directors questions about global trends. There are also special chapters on an Egyptian assessment of its post-revolution 34 priorities; 32 elements shaping future of the arts, media, and entertainment industries by 2020; four scenarios for the future of Latin America by 2030; international issues of environmental security. According to Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General, State of the Future "gives invaluable insights into the future for the United Nations, its Member States, and civil society." The report is published yearly since 1997 and counts over 100 pages in print, along with a CD containing the cumulative work of the Millennium Project since 1996 and details of the studies included in the print section (over 8,000 pages). Executive Summary of this report was translated into 7 languages and reached the desk of every influential policymaker in the World. According to journalists of the influential Technological Forecasting and Social Change review, "Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, should read this incredible document, period!"

Polish Presidency in the Council of the EU
On 10-11th October 2011, representatives of 4C Future and Polish Society for Futures Studies took part in 3rd European Innovation Summit in Warsaw, organized in partnership with Technology Partners Foundation, a member of the Knowledge4Innovation Forum of the European Parliament and support of European Commission DG R&I. The purpose was to obtain a greater cohesion within the European research and innovation system while preserving the freedom of EU regions and Member States to act independently, but for 4C Future staff it has also been an occasion to meet friends and representatives from various Polish and European institutions. The key issue, raised both during the session and in non-official talks was to rethink European R&I strategy, in order to better integrate them with business and investment environment. Mr. Piotr Jutkiewicz, 4C Future Partner said: "steady cooperation of businesses, member states, EU institutions and R&I institutes is vital for developing a synergies, that could help sustain competitiveness of European science and commercialize its findings." 4C Future is an actor in diffusion of innovations, supplying consultancy, audit and analyses to investors, who seek innovative capital ventures.

Our satellite makes friends among rodents
During our visit to Warsaw Space Research Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences we had a first glance at our pupil – the first Polish scientific satellite "Lem". Tomasz Zawistowski, Project Manager for this pioneer enterprise hosted 4C Future Partners at the laboratory, where our artificial satellite is being built. 4C Future staff was introduced to all the units of this facility, including the research unit, the assembly unit and the clean-room (facility enabling a strict control of air pollutants), where optical elements of the satellite are being built. Lem Satellite, scheduled to be launched in 2012, will incorporate an engraved tablet, bearing 4C Future logo. Lem Satellite is a joint venture by Polish-Canadian consortium and all the technical operations are carried out at Space Research Centre. According to Mr. Zawistowski, the next satellite to be built at Warsaw Space Research Centre, named Hevelius, will benefit from experience gather in current project and thus will become an independent Polish undertaking. Mr. Zawistowski presented other achievements of Space Research Centre, including Polish soil extraction device Chomik (Hamster), named after the cheery rodent. This pneumatic apparatus has received high praise from NASA, ESA. Russian Space Agency has incorporated Chomik into Fobos-Grunt Mars mission spacecraft. The representatives of Japanese Space Agency commended Chomik and its predecessor Kret (Gofer) for project excellence. 4C Future enthusiastically supports Polish space exploration projects.

NASA Conference
On September 16-17th, representatives of 4C Future and Polish Society for Future Studies took part in a joint conference Psychophysiological Aspects of Flight Safety in Aerospace Operations by NASA and Military Institute of Aviation Medicine at Hilton hotel Warsaw. New trends in military and civil flight safety research were presented. Find more about this forum here. The conference, endorsed by National Centre for Research and Development, National Security Bureau, Polish Academy of Science, Ministry of Science and Higher Education and Polish Air Force Command presented an opportunity to show a cutting-edge Human Centrifuge at the Military Institute of Aviation Medicine premises. Mr. Macander, vice-president of Polish Society for Futures Studies has summarized the conference as "very instructive, especially in presenting the horizons of Augmented Cognition development". 4C Future is an active participant in many Space and Aeronautics projects.

Data Protection – 4C Future Confidential
A series of meetings with our customers over the last few months made us reconsider data security policy in our company. We have resolved to remodel implemented procedures to-date and nominated a Security Manager. Our aim is to bring to all our clients the exigent levels of data protection we used to offer as an option. To achieve this, we implement PN-ISO/IEC 17799:2007 norms of data protection in all departments of our company and thus obtain a relevant certificate. We undertake these measures in order to stand up to expectations of Polish companies willing to use our expertise in manufacturing of military equipment. The project is already on.
